Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is a name that has become synonymous not only with beauty and success, but is also the face of Indian cinema in Hollywood.
Her journey from an architect to the queen of bollywood has been nothing short than a miracle. Blessed with extraordinary looks, Aishwarya was born on 1st November 1973 in the city of Mangalore, Karnataka.
Aishwarya started her modelling career while she was studying architecture in Ruparel college, Mumbai. Her success in modelling led her right to the title of Miss World in 1994. After a pepsi commercial with Mahima chaudhry, Bollywood producers started lining up outside her door with offers. There has been no looking back since.
After conquering the world of modelling she went on to become the queen of bollywood.
The blue-eyed beauty made her debut in Mani Rathnam’s ‘Iruvar’ in 1997. After a short stint in Tollywood, she entered Bollywood. Since, she has won great acclaim for her work in ‘ Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, ‘ Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai’, ‘Mohabbatein’ and ‘Devdas.
2003, brought her great acclaim in the international world. She was the first Indian to become a member of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival jury. Aishwarya has also graced the covers ‘India Today’, ‘Time’ and featured in many more like ‘ Harpers Bazaar’ , ‘Vogue’and ‘GQ’.
Aishwarya is also the first Indian female to be included in the world famous ‘Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum’ in London. She has made appearances in some of the World’s most watched shows such as‘Oprah Winfrey Show’, ’60 Minutes’ and ‘ David Letterman Show.’
On the personal front Aishwarya had seen a very rocky phase when she was dating Bollywood actor Salman Khan. However, time brought steadiness to her personal life as well when she married into the Bachchan family. She tied the knot with Abhishek Bachchan on 20th April last year.
